This 8,000-gallon capacity insulated tank car was built for Shippers Car Line and was designed for vinyl acetate service. It featured a new welded dome design, called “Duradome,” replacing older riveted designs. Shippers Car Line was acquired by American Car & Foundry in 1927, and leased an enormous fleet of tank cars to a diverse assortment of industries, from chemical plants to wine processors.
